Please don't underestimate the importance of acclimating your shrimp effectively. Although there are possibly hundreds of ways to acclimating shrimp, it is our view as breeders and keepers there is only one foolproof way that nearly guarantees survival (providing the water you are moving them too is good). It's also cheap, easy and stress free.
Drip acclimating
As per the diagram get yourself an appropriate length of air hose with an air stone one end and an airline tap the other end. Once your shrimp are in a suitable container, place the end with the air-stone in the tank. The air-stone weighs it down slightly and also prevents shrimp being sucked into the airline with the water. Then start a syphon with the end with the air tap. We like to acclimate slowly at about a drip per second. We sometimes leave shrimp for a couple of hours with the drip method. If the container fills with water, simply empty two thirds and let it drip away some more.
We simply do not lose shrimp due to stress using this method. Remember that it is only as good as the aged and cycled water with the correct parameters in the destination tank.
